SnackSafe Inc. wants ZuluCheck to be usable by every pilot, including pilots with disabilities. This statement describes what we have done, what we know is not yet right, and how to tell us when something does not work for you.
1. OUR COMMITMENT
We aim for the ZuluCheck app and zulucheck.com to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, and for the app to follow Apple's accessibility guidelines for iOS and iPadOS. Accessibility is part of how we design: the app was built around large touch targets, one action per screen and high contrast, because a cockpit in turbulence is itself a demanding environment.
2. THE APP
- VoiceOver: controls, rows, buttons and status values carry labels and hints. The current checklist item, the DONE, UNDO and SKIP controls, the emergency button, the aircraft picker and the settings are navigable with VoiceOver.
- Text size: ZuluCheck follows the iOS text size (Dynamic Type) up to the largest standard size. On the flight screens, where values such as best glide speed must stay fully visible, system sizes above that are capped and the in-app text size control (Aa) lets you enlarge the checklist text as far as the layout allows.
- Touch targets: every control is at least 44 by 44 points; the DONE button fills a large part of the screen so it can be hit without looking.
- Color and contrast: text and controls meet or exceed a 4.5:1 contrast ratio in the Day, Dark and Night themes. State is never conveyed by color alone: done, skipped and current items also differ in position, icon and text.
- Motion: animations are short and functional. The app respects the iOS Reduce Motion setting where it has an effect.
- Orientation and devices: the app works in portrait and landscape on iPhone, iPad and foldable iPhones, and does not lock orientation except during onboarding.
- Languages and direction: the interface is available in 14 languages, including right-to-left Hebrew and Arabic, independently of the device language.
3. THE WEBSITE
- Keyboard: all pages can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a "skip to content" link.
- Screen readers: pages use landmarks, headings in order, labeled controls, alt text for images and language attributes, including per-page language and text direction.
- Text and zoom: text scales with browser zoom and settings up to 200 percent without loss of content; layouts adapt from small phones to large screens.
- Motion: the hero photo animation is disabled when your system asks for reduced motion.
- Contrast: text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios in both light and dark presentation.
4. KNOWN LIMITATIONS
- Source documents (POH / AFM PDFs) are published by manufacturers and other parties. Many are scans without a text layer and are not accessible to screen readers. We cannot change them; the checklists in the app are our accessible transcription of the relevant sections.
- The app's custom typefaces cap the very largest accessibility text sizes on the flight screens, as described above, to keep safety-critical values on screen.
- Some third-party pages we link to (Apple, aviationweather.gov, manufacturers) are outside our control.
- Formal third-party auditing of WCAG conformance has not yet been completed; we consider the app and website partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA, with the limitations listed here.
5. FEEDBACK AND HELP
If any part of ZuluCheck is hard to use with a disability, tell us: support@zulucheck.com, or Settings > Contact support in the app. Describe what you tried, the device, iOS version and the assistive technology you use. We answer accessibility reports first and we aim to fix them in the next release. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the enforcement body for accessibility in your country.
6. ENFORCEMENT AND STANDARDS
This statement was prepared on October 20, 2026 and is reviewed with each major release. Standards referred to: WCAG 2.2 (W3C), Apple Human Interface Guidelines for accessibility, and, where applicable, the European Accessibility Act and Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act.
