This Cookie Policy explains how zulucheck.com and the ZuluCheck app use cookies and similar technologies. It is part of the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy of SnackSafe Inc.
1. THE SHORT VERSION
zulucheck.com uses Google Analytics cookies to count visits and see which pages are useful. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland they are set only if you choose Accept in the banner; elsewhere they are on unless you turn them off. There are no advertising cookies and no tracking pixels. The site also stores your language and your analytics choice in your browser. The ZuluCheck app uses no cookies at all. Change your analytics choice.
2. WHAT COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES ARE
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Local storage is a similar browser feature that stores values without sending them to a server. "Similar technologies" also include pixels, scripts and device fingerprinting. We use no pixels or fingerprinting, and nothing to identify you or to track you for advertising.
3. WHAT ZULUCHECK.COM STORES IN YOUR BROWSER
- Language preference (local storage key "zc-lang"): set when you choose a language with the language menu, so the site can show you the same language next time. It is strictly necessary for that feature, never leaves your browser, contains no personal data and is kept until you clear your browser's site data. Legal basis: it is exempt from consent as strictly necessary for a service you asked for.
- Analytics choice (local storage key "zc-consent"): "granted" or "denied", set when you choose Accept or Decline, so the banner does not ask again. It never leaves your browser and is kept until you clear your browser's site data. Legal basis: strictly necessary to remember your choice.
- Google Analytics cookies ("_ga" and "_ga_
", set for zulucheck.com by Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC): a random identifier that lets Google Analytics tell new visits from returning ones and count pages per visit. They last up to 2 years. Legal basis: your consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland (Accept in the banner); elsewhere our legitimate interest in measuring how the site is used, which you can refuse at any time. Without consent, Google receives only cookieless measurements (Google's Consent Mode) that carry no identifier. We do not use Google Analytics for advertising and have Google signals switched off; see the Privacy Policy, section 10, and Google's own policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
4. THIRD PARTIES
- Google Analytics: the site loads Google's analytics script from googletagmanager.com, and your browser sends Google Analytics the measurements described above. Every other file the site needs (fonts, images, style sheets, scripts) is served from zulucheck.com.
- Store badges: the App Store badge links to Apple. Only when you tap it does your browser go to Apple, under Apple's policies.
- Hosting: zulucheck.com, shared links and source documents are served by Amazon Web Services (CloudFront), which records standard access logs described in the Privacy Policy and does not set cookies on our pages.
5. THE APP
The ZuluCheck app does not use cookies, web beacons or advertising identifiers. Its usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase, with a random app-instance identifier and no advertising identifier) are described in the Privacy Policy, section 2, and can be turned off in the app's Settings. When you open a source document with the POH button, it opens in Apple's Safari view controller, which may use Safari's own cookies for the page it loads; those belong to Safari and are not shared with the app or with us.
6. YOUR CHOICES
You can change your analytics choice at any time with the link in section 1 (Change your analytics choice), which brings the banner back. A Global Privacy Control signal from your browser counts as Decline. You can also delete the stored values and cookies, or block all storage, in your browser's site data settings; the site will then show the language of your browser each time and, in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, ask again. The site works with all storage blocked.
