POH Section 2 pages 2-3 and 2-4 (Weight Limits, Center of Gravity Limits chart); Section 6 pages 6-1 to 6-7 (Loading Instructions, Sample Loading Calculation) (pages 21-22, 75-82 of r44-ii__poh__full-book-rev-2024-01-26.pdf) · version type
- Minimum gross weight 1600 lb (726 kg); envelope bottom is at 1600 lb.
- Maximum per seat INCLUDING its under-seat baggage compartment is 300 lb; each baggage compartment max 50 lb. Groups model seat + compartment combined limit.
- Solo pilot of 150 lb or more with all doors installed ensures CG within limits; lighter pilots must compute W&B and may need removable ballast in an under-seat compartment. Solo flight from right seat only.
- Envelope vertices read from chart: forward limit ~92.0 in from 1600 to 2300 lb, sloping to 93.0 in at 2500 lb; aft limit 98.0 in at 2500 lb sloping to ~102.5 in at 2100 lb, then vertical to 1600 lb. Verify against the chart.
- Fuel at 6 lb/gal per Section 6. Tank capacities are not on these pages (sample uses 177 lb main / 102 lb aux usable, i.e. 29.5 / 17.0 USG for bladder tanks); check Section 2 fuel capacity for your tank type.
- A combined longitudinal arm of 104.5 in may be used for main + aux fuel (not for lateral CG).
- Fuel burn moves CG forward: check both takeoff and zero-usable-fuel conditions.
- Door removal: forward doors 7.5 lb each at 49.4 in, aft doors 7.0 lb each at 75.4 in; removable left-seat controls 2.0 lb at 31.0 in; subtract when removed.
- If an additional backrest cushion is used, subtract its compressed thickness from the front seat arm.
- Lateral CG limits also exist (chart page 2-4); lateral arms: pilot +12.2, left front -10.4, aft ±12.2, main fuel -13.5, aux fuel +13.0 in.
- Typical empty shown is the sample loading basic empty weight; use the aircraft's actual weight and balance record.
- Read from the POH by ZuluCheck and checked by a second reading; verify against your own manual.
